Google has been encouraging website owners to make their websites more secure for the past few years. Most notably, in 2014 Google announced that websites with SSL certificates would rank slightly higher than sites without SSL certificates.
Now Google intends to notify users of less secure sites. Google Chrome 56, which is currently being beta tested, will notify visitors when filling out a web based form that requests passwords or credit card information that their request is not secure and can be intercepted by a 3rd party.
SSL Certificates are an inexpensive way to help your website rank better and give visitors a more secure experience.
